To start, you’ll want to wash and trim your green beans and mangetout, removing any ends or tough stems. Then, finely chop a few cloves of garlic and set them aside. Heat up a wok over a high heat and add a bit of groundnut (or vegetable) oil. Once the oil is hot, add the garlic and stir fry for a few seconds until fragrant. Next, add the green beans, chicken stock, a pinch of salt, and sugar. Stir everything together and cook for 2 – 3 minutes until beans are tender-crisp.

Add the mangetout, and cook everything for another minute or two until the liquid has mostly evaporated. Reduce the heat, stir in some sesame oil, and it’s ready to serve! Garnish with sesame seeds for a little extra colour, and flavour.
